Air compressors are one of the main mechanical power equipment in many enterprises, and maintaining safe operation of air compressors is essential. Strictly following the air compressor operating procedures not only helps extend the service life of the air compressor but also ensures the safety of the operators. Below, we will learn about the air compressor operating procedures.
Before operating the air compressor, the following points should be noted:
1. Keep the lubricating oil in the oil sump within the range indicated on the dipstick. Before operating the air compressor, check that the oil level in the lubricator is not lower than the mark on the scale.
2. Check that all moving parts are flexible, all connections are tight, the lubrication system is normal, and the motor and electrical control equipment are safe and reliable.
3. Before operating the air compressor, check that the protective devices and safety accessories are intact and complete.
4. Check that the exhaust pipe is unobstructed.
5. Connect the water supply and open all water inlet valves to ensure unobstructed cooling water flow.
When operating an air compressor, after a long period of inactivity, a thorough manual inspection must be performed before starting it for the first time. Check for any signs of impact, jamming, or abnormal noise.
The machine must be started under no-load conditions. After normal no-load operation, gradually increase the load on the air compressor.
During normal operation of the air compressor, frequently monitor the readings of various instruments and adjust them as needed.
During air compressor operation, also check the following:
1. Whether the motor temperature is normal and whether the readings of all meters are within the specified range.
2. Whether the operating sounds of all components are normal.
3. Whether the intake valve cover is hot and whether the valve sound is normal.
4. Whether all safety protection devices on the air compressor are reliable.
