The function of an air receiver tank in an air compression system is to buffer, stabilize the air supply, and reduce the frequency of compressor starts. Simultaneously, allowing compressed air to settle in the tank facilitates water and contaminant removal.
The basic requirements for selecting an air receiver tank are as follows:
1. The volume of the air receiver tank should be between 10% and 20% of the compressor's discharge capacity. We generally choose 15%. When the air consumption is large, the volume of the air receiver tank should be appropriately increased. If the on-site air consumption is small, it can be lower than 15%, but preferably not lower than 10%.
2. The processing capacity of the dryer and filter should be consistent with the compressor's discharge capacity.
3. An automatic drain device should be installed on the filter before the dryer.
4. When using an adsorption dryer, the compressor should have a corresponding allowance for air consumption.
5. When the dryer is installed after the air receiver tank, the function of the air receiver tank is more fully realized, serving as a buffer, cooling, and draining agent, reducing the load on the dryer, and is suitable for conditions where the system's air supply is more uniform. The dryer is installed before the gas storage tank, and the system can provide a large peak adjustment capacity, which is mostly used in working conditions with large fluctuations in gas consumption.
